Rear Occupant Alert Overview

Never Forget Kids or Pets with Rear Occupant Alert- The Genesis Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system is designed to provide timely reminders if any motion is detected in the backseat after the vehicle has been turned off.

The Genesis Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system is designed to provide timely reminders if any motion is detected in the backseat after the vehicle has been turned off.

Two Layers of Protection:

  1. Basic Rear Occupant Alert:
    • Activated when the engine is turned off and the driver’s door opens.
    • A warning message displays on the instrument cluster, reminding guests to check the backseat.
  2. Advanced Rear Passenger Alert (on equipped models):
    • Uses motion sensors to detect movement inside the vehicle for up to 10 minutes after the engine is turned off and the doors are locked.
    • If movement is detected, the system honks the horn for up to 25 seconds, repeating up to eight times if necessary.

Quick Setup:
Turn the system on or off by navigating to: Setup > Vehicle > Convenience > Rear Occupant Alert in the infotainment system.

False Alarms? No Problem.

The system may occasionally display false alerts due to:

●        Open windows.

●        Loose cargo.

●        Excessive noise or vibration.

To avoid unnecessary alerts, ensure all objects are secured and windows are fully closed.

How to Respond to Alerts

If the Advanced Rear Passenger Alert activates:

  1. Unlock the vehicle using the Smart Key Fob to stop the horn.
  2. Check the backseat for movement or items.
  3. Remember: Even if no one is present, the system prioritizes safety by alerting drivers to potential issues.
