What is Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)?

Genesis Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) can help a reversing vehicle detect other vehicles or pedestrians approaching from the sides. RCCA is an advanced safety feature designed to provide enhanced detection and braking assistance if a rear collision is imminent.

How Does RCCA Work?

1. Real-Time Detection
   • RCCA uses advanced sensors and cameras to constantly monitor the area behind and around the vehicle while reversing. It detects any vehicles or objects approaching from the left or right.
2. Warning and Alerts
   • If the system detects an imminent collision, it will issue visual warnings on the infotainment screen and an audible alarm to alert the driver.
   • It may also assist by automatically applying the brakes to help prevent a collision.
3. Seamless Activation
   • RCCA is automatically activated when shifting into reverse.

How to Customize RCCA

While RCCA is a powerful safety feature, it can be customized to suit driving preferences. Here’s how to adjust these settings:

1. Turning RCCA On or Off
   • To turn RCCA on or off, press the Setup button and then Vehicle, Driver Assistance, and then Parking Safety.
   •  From here, guests can toggle the Rear Cross Traffic Safety option.
   • Even if turned off, RCCA will automatically reactivate the next time the vehicle is turned off and then back on.
2. Adjusting Warning Timing
   • To adjust alert timing, press the Setup button and then Vehicle, Driver Assistance, and then Warning Timing.
   • Choose late timing for a delayed alert. For quicker responses, select standard timing.
3. Controlling the Warning Volume
   • Guests can control the volume of the warning alerts. Press the Setup button and then select Vehicle, Driver Assistance, and then Warning Methods.
   • If no sound is preferred, the volume can be turned off.
