Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2) is a comprehensive driving assistance function that allows you to maintain a set cruising speed, keep a set distance from the vehicle ahead, keep your Genesis centered in your lane, and automatically pass other traffic with a simple push of a switch.

Highway Driving Assist 2 can be activated once your vehicle is driving on a major highway. By utilizing in-car navigation data, your Genesis will automatically recognize when it is on a major highway and HDA2 can be activated.

How to Activate Highway Driving Assist 2

1. Press the Driving Assist button on the left side of the steering wheel. This button is usually to the upper left of the steering wheel and is marked with a “vehicle and gauge cluster” icon.

1. Your cruising speed will automatically be set to your current speed.

1. Lane Following Assist and Lane Keeping Assist will also activate to keep your vehicle centered in its lane.

You can then:

• Press the Vehicle Distance button to cycle between four preset distances to the vehicle ahead. Distance 1 is closer to the vehicle ahead and Distance 4 is further from the vehicle ahead.

• Adjust the set cruising speed with the left-most control switch:

• A quick press up/down = +/- 1 mph change.

• Press and hold up/down = +/- 5 mph change.

Understanding the HDA Indicator

On your instrument cluster, you’ll see the Highway Driving Assist indicator just to the left of the Lane Following Assist indicator:

• Green = HDA is active.

• Gray = System in standby.

• Blinking White = Accelerator pedal is being manually pressed. 

If the vehicle ahead slows down with HDA2 active, your Genesis will slow down as well. If the vehicle ahead resumes accelerating within 30 seconds, your vehicle will automatically resume moving forward.

Highway Lane Change Assist

Highway Lane Change Assist allows automatic passing of slower traffic ahead.

To use Highway Lane Change Assist:

1. Activate HDA2 and ensure that the vehicle ahead is being detected and the HDA2 icon is green.

2. Gently hold the turn signal stalk to the first detent position. The turn signal stalk direction corresponds to a standard turn signal and your Genesis will pass traffic on the side that you are signaling towards (up for Right, down for Left).

3. Do not hold the turn signal stalk too far into the second detent position. This will activate the turn signal light instead and not Highway Lane Change Assist.

4. On your instrument cluster, when in driving assist view mode, the lane to your selected side will appear with a green overlay.

5. Continue holding down the turn signal stalk but do not make any movements on the steering wheel, brakes, or accelerator pedal. Doing so will cancel the Highway Lane Change Assist move.

6. A green change arrow will appear and your Genesis will begin moving out of its lane and will accelerate to pass slower traffic. You may now release the stalk.

7. Move smoothly back into your lane after passing.
